Stewardship

Stewardship at Living Lord Lutheran Church

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word "stewardship?" Budgets and spreadsheets? Money? Pledge cards? What about love? Living Lord is a church that is energized by lively engagement in our faith and life, and we have an important message to share: stewardship is about so much more than money! Stewardship is about love.

This approach to stewardship is not primarily about paying the congregation's bills. Instead, stewardship is about how the congregation together can do God's work and how we live out God's call to love God and our neighbors. Stewardship is directly tied to discipleship. Stewardship is a way of life. It is not just about what is given to the congregation, but about how generous we are with all that God has entrusted to our care both inside and outside of the church walls and in our homes.

Each month, members and friends of the congregation support Living Lord with their contributions of time and talent. It is fulfilling to those who give of themselves and important for those who receive. As we give of our time, as we utilize our talents in service to our members we show our love to them and to our Lord and Savior, Jesus. Stewardship IS about love!

Another way that we can express our love to God is through financial giving. We believe that all that we have belongs to God and that we are stewards, or caretakers of the wealth entrusted to us. By making offerings to God through the church, not only do we support its ministries, but also we acknowledge God as giver of all. We find joy in giving, as it reminds us of our dependence upon God as it expresses our gratitude to God for all we have been given.

We embrace Scriptural principles regarding the total stewardship practices of joyous, worshipful, first-fruits giving. In response to receiving blessings from God, our members and friends are invited to support the vision and ministry of Living Lord through electronic giving, or E-Giving. Through regular offerings and special gifts, you join in our ministry and help spread the Gospel to those in our community and around the globe.

E-Giving FAQ's

Do people at Living Lord use E-Giving?
Yes, we have many families using it!

What are the advantages of E-Giving?
E-Giving is all about convenience for you and consistency for the church. Electronic giving eliminates frequent check writing and helps members stay on track with their giving plan even when they are unable to attend services. The church in turn benefits from much-needed donation consistency and a reduction in the volume of check and cash contributions that must be handled and manually processed in the church office, as your contributions are transferred automatically from your checking or savings account to the church.

How will I keep track of my contributions in my check register?
Since your contribution is made at a pre-established time, you simply record it in your check register on the appropriate date. Electronic contributions will appear on you bank statement.

Is E-Giving risky?
It is certainly less risky than writing checks or carrying cash to church. If you use the Vanco Services, LLC system that Living Lord subscribes to they will transfer the funds directly from your checking account to the church on the same day without any delay. Vanco Services is an established and highly-regarded company that processes contributions for more than 10,000 churches and non-profit organizations.

If you used your banks Bill Pay service they will generate a check and transmit it to Living Lord.

What if I try E-Giving and don't like it?
You can cancel your authorization at any time. If you are using Vanco Service simply notify the church office. If you are using your banks Bill Pay service just log into your account at the bank and cancel the recurring payment.

How often can Funds be withdrawn electronically from my account?
Thru the Vanco Services system you may elect to have funds withdrawn on a repetitive basis, either weekly or monthly. If you wish to make a change to either the amount or the frequency you will need to contact the Church Office.

Thru your banks Bill Pay system you have may have more options as to frequency of payment. You will also be able to make unscheduled donations as special circumstances arise (i.e. supporting one of our many ministries like Youth Group or Haiti). You can also give for special appeals, capital campaigns, and debt reduction.

Without a cancelled check, how can I prove that I made a contribution to Living Lord?
The financial institution that represents your account (checking or savings) generally provides you with a statement that would reflect your donation. Additionally, Living Lord will include all E-Giving transactions in your quarterly and annual giving statements.

Are there any processing fees or charges that will be incurred by either the donor or church as a result of using this service?
