What to Expect

What to Expect

Living Lord is a community of imperfect people loving imperfect people. We welcome all people, just as God welcomes us. We rejoice in the ways God uses each one's unique gifts, talents and personality to transform His world.

Our faith and actions spring from the foundational truths revealed in God's Word and the understanding that individual lives are wondrously transformed from the inside-out by His grace. We are firmly grounded by our long and rich Lutheran heritage while our pioneering spirit continually pushes us forward into new and contemporary expressions of our traditional values.

We are a vibrant community of people with varied backgrounds and experiences who are sharing life together. We are joyful people who laugh and rejoice in the highs of life and hold each other up through the lows. We are a family who supports and encourages each other on a lifelong journey of faith.

Living Lord is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Tell Me About the Worship Services
We conduct 'Traditional' worship services on Sundays at 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM.

Our 'Contemporary' worship serivce is at 9:15 AM. We always have a Children's Message with the pastor during this service. After the Children's Message the Sunday School students are dismissed to their individual classes. These classes are held from late August thru early June.

Regardless of which service you attend, each service is grounded in the ancient forms of worship: prayer, the reading of scripture, and participation in the Eucharist.

Near the middle of each service there is a sermon, typically given by our Pastor. It's generally 10-15 minutes in length, and is delivered in a conversational style (i.e. not read word-for-word). You can listen to some recent sermons on this site.

There is a time for coffee, juice, and goodies between the services.

Printed bulletins and announcements are available at all three of our worship services. Almost all of the words of the entire service, however, are displayed on the screens in the front of the sancturary, so you don't have to be worried about getting lost. We also have Large Print Bulletins for those who might have difficulty seeing the screens.

What does 'Eucharist' mean?
All of our worship services include a celebration of The Holy Eucharist, or Communion. You do not need to be a Lutheran to receive Communion in our church - all of God's children are welcome here. (If a child is receiving Communion, this continues. Instruction for First Communion is in the third grade. All are welcome at God's Table for a blessing.)

When Should I Arrive?
It is recommended that youu arrive at the building approximately 15-20 minutes before the desired service. This will allow you some time to become familiar with our building (i.e. the location of the Sanctuary, restrooms, water fountain, etc.). It will also give you an opportunity to introduce yourself to our warm and friendly members before the service.

What Should I Wear?
All of our services are casual. You can truly come as you are to these services -- you can wear shorts and sandals, jeans, or dress however you feel comfortable.

What Is Available For My Kids?
We provide a nursery each Sunday from 8:00 - 12:00 for infants and toddlers. It is staffed with loving and experienced caregivers including both staff and volunteers. There is a sign-in procedure for the children each week, and our paid nursery attendants would be happy to explain this procedure if you have any questions.

For Children ages 3 thru 5th Grade we have Sunday School Classes during the 9:15 service. See the 'Tell Me About the Worship Services' item above for more information.
